At the start of Aug 2004 I went to check out what Lac La Biche has to offer for outdoor recreation. My friend Sarah and I took a canoe to the Lakeland Prov Park. It is about 30km north of Lac La Biche. What I found was really unexpected. Now I had done lots of canoe trips in the past and this one is right up there with the best of them. Since there aren't as many settlements of people up north there is tones and tones of wildlife. With the canoe you can go stealth and sneak up on all the cool creatures. Along the 32km paddle we ran into 5 Moose, 4 or 5 Deer, lots of psycho Loons, a Beaver, lots of Birds, and a tone of white Pelicans. You are probably thinking Pelicans yeah right. No joke folks there are pelicans up here. Just check out the pictures and you will see. So anyway we took 3 days and two night so it was really really cool to see what Northern Alberta has to offer. Maybe there is hope for this flat country up here.
